Justice Update – International Justice 2025 Wrapped

if you don’t know this is Janet and Steph by now, you haven’t been paying attention

It’s already more than a week since the annual meeting of the International Criminal Court. Which ended with more of a whimper than a bang. The court faces big problems with US sanctions, among other issues. Resilience was the watchword and a ‘wait and see’ budget was put in place.

We did a ‘bro’ podcast – just the two of us wrapping it all up. We discussed the atmosphere, explained what it’s like behind the scenes, and tried to assess what to expect on a range of issues. We mentioned some of the podcasts of 2025 – this one on sexual violence in Sudan, this one on investigations into alleged crimes by Special Forces in Afghanistan, this one on hopsitals under IHL, and the updates on the new Ukraine Special Tribunal on Aggression. But generally we just chatted about this world of international criminal justice.

See you in 2026, and thanks for all the fish.
